Description
The Coffin, the Roses
A coffin-shaped tableau of red roses, bone, and a quiet blue of butterflies — a still life built around the tension between love and what remains.
Inspired by gothic romance and the old idea that flowers can outlast the body, the design brings together familiar symbols: the coffin as a vessel, the ribs as what is left, the roses as devotion that does not ask to be gentle. In the language of flowers, the red rose stands for passion and lasting love. Here it is not a dozen in a vase. It is that meaning, kept in a darker register.
It feels less like decoration and more like a small reliquary — part garden, part memorial, and entirely its own little world.
Design Details
Every element is built to create contrast — red roses among pale ribs, blue butterflies against the dark silhouette, a light strip that traces the coffin after the room has gone dim.
A foldable stand lets it sit on a table; the same piece can hang on a wall. Day reads as sculpture. After dark, the glow gives the scene a second character without changing its shape.
In the Room
Designed as a display piece for a desk, bookshelf, cabinet, or wall. Let it sit among books, candles, and other dark objects, or give it its own space where the red and the outline can stand out.
By day it is a quiet gothic object. If you light it, it reads as a window into the scene. A compact still life that holds the room without asking for a season.
The Build
An evening you actually set aside — about 3–5 hours, or two shorter sittings. The pace is meant to be unhurried. Leave it out when you are done; it is furniture for the shelf, not something to pack away.
